favorite t.v shows

i am an avid t.v. watcher. i like to watch t.v. while i do things (crafting, sewing, exercising, eating, etc.). the number 1 show is my favorite. the rest are in no particular order. so here they are:

1. buffy the vampire slayer
a young girl who fights evil while trying to maintain a social life. fantastic acting (see the episode where joyce dies or the hush episode: totally emmy worthy). incredible action scenes. awesome story lines. smart writing (had the best jokes of the 2000's). amazing romances (while most exes may seem evil, buffy's exes were really evil, the "evil ex" label took on a whole new meaning on this show).

The best buffy cast (imo)

2. the west wing
the inner workings of a democratic White House. hands-down, this cast had the most amazing chemistry. the back-and-forth banter was priceless. it had a silence to it. phenomenal acting. sharp, witty writing. incredible story development (in the early seasons). the comedic timing was on-point. a first-class t.v. show. AMAZING!!!

The greatest west wing era (seasons 1-3)

3. xena:  warrior princess
a rehabilitated bad girl with a feisty sidekick, set in ancient rome/greece. uneven plots. uneven writing. uneven acting. it could be over-the-top campy and corny. it could be dark and dramatic. it could be light and silly. great fighting and action scenes. amazing story lines. they had a few romances that made you feel something too! great heroes, even better villains (callisto!). throw in guest stars that were awesome. i don't think any show in the history of t.v had as many female villains as this one. and did i mention the fighting was extremely entertaining? it was buffy in ancient times! Just a fun little show!

gabrielle and xena

4. alias
a grad student/spy who was a double agent. another great cast. in spite of all the tech talk and sometimes confusing plots, the writing and story lines were ludicrous, insane and yet somehow quite plausible. jennifer garner trained like mad physically for this role. she could literally kill you in real life. the fight sequences seemed so real. all that whispering made it so much more fun. the family dynamics and machinations were unlike anything on t.v. at the time. the sydney/micheal romance makes me smile to this day. another extraordinary show. i loved it!

the cast of alias, all of whom were excellent in their roles

5. the cosby show
the most positive show ever to portray black people in a positive light. it showcased a dark-skinned, faithful, successful couple. he was a gynecologist, she was a lawyer. america ate it up; it was smart and funny. on occasion, it touched on real-life issues and raised awareness of them. and it was clean humor. another outstanding, exemplary show.
the huxtable family

honorable mentions:
modern family (they examined what the new american family looks like with love and hilarity)
a different world (a comedy about black kids college experiences that explored many social issues)
community (first season was so brilliantly funny)
spartacus (a bloody show, but they have the best romances that generally end in tragedy)
glee (season 1 and 2 are the best)
terminator:  sarah connor chronicles (even though it gives me nightmares)
ally mcbeal (the earlier years were the best)

Wrestling Stuff January 22, 2013

I am by no means an avid wrestling fan. I used to be. I loved Lita, Trish, The Hardys, the McMahon-Helmsley regime, Kurt Angle, all those guys. Seriously, I used to eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling. I would read wrestling fan fiction to no end. But not anymore. I lost interest. It was in the mid 2000′s.  I think it was due to lack of good storylines. They had wrestlers coming and going. The divas division was trash. At one point, a majority of the divas were not wrestlers and never stepped foot in the ring to wrestle. Rock was gone. Kurt Angle was gone. Lita was injured. Steph was nowhere to be found. It was just a culmination of things. But I’m back now. I watch now because it’s just plain fun. This page is about wrestling. But my primary focus will be on the Divas. Something just isn’t quite right there.

Meant To Be Alone… January 9, 2013

maybe i’m not supposed to be with anybody. maybe i just need to focus on me, and no one else. maybe i should go back to school. maybe i should get a full time job. maybe, maybe, maybe…

Woe Is Me… August 25, 2012

so the guy i mentioned being in love with, he just got engaged to a thin little white girl who looks perfect for him. i will not cry. it will be o.k. there is a guy out there for me, who will love me in spite of who i am. just have to find him.

In Love With A Boy April 16, 2012

so there’s a guy i’ve known for  a few years. i want him. badly. except, he lives a few states away. he also constantly has girls around him. white, thin, pretty girls. i’m not any of those things. do i have a chance with him?

My Sister’s Family April 7, 2012

i love my sister's family. i don’t like her husband so much. in my opinion, he’s a cheap lazy sort of guy, who sometimes does admirable things. he’s not all bad. he had a different upbringing than most people. due to that, he makes these decisions and says things that normal people don’t do or say. i try to be nice, because he’s the type of guy to keep family away from his kids. he has a child from his first marriage, which i still think he’s not over, and he has sole custody of that child. but she’s not a happy child, they treat her meanly. my sister can’t stand her, she can’t wait for her to leave home so she won’t have a great influence on the younger children. did i mention said child is only 11? when my sisters husband says/does something that i don’t like/agree with about my family, sister never defends us. she fell for him fast and hard. she drunk whatever kool-aid he sold her and vice versa. they claim to be righteous people, but they curse and say/do things that just are not Christ like. the only reason i’m thankful they are together, my beautiful nieces. the one thing i do know is this: one day sister will wake up and kick his @$$. my fear is this: will he try to keep my family from my nieces? they are the only grandchildren my parents. it would break their hearts. but knowing my mother, she rip this world to pieces to be with her grand-babies. God bless her, she may be crazy as hell, but she loves her babies. if this does happen, he’ll find out who we really are.
